Fishing Creek is the name of at least 84 streams in the United States according to the United States Geological Survey source. From the point of view of Dixiepedia, it refers to an insignificant tributary of the Cumberland River (now an arm of Lake Cumberland, the reservoir formed by Wolf Creek Dam), in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Following the usual Confederate practice of naming battles for a nearby stream, the Battle of Fishing Creek is encountered in Confederate documents. The Federal name for this battle was the Battle of Logan's Cross-Roads. The consensus term is the Battle of Mill Springs.
